Pesarattu Dosa - Green Moong Dal Dosa Recipe


Pesarattu is a healthy dosa recipe prepared using green moong dal. Here I explained this recipe with step by step procedure along with pictures. This goes very well with chutney or kulambu of your choice.


This recipe is prepared using green moong dal whole or split. I used split green moong dal. Soaked overnight and grinded with few ingredients which gives you good flavor and taste.

Pasarattu is a Andhra based recipe usually prepared for breakfast. This is a healthy version of breakfast.

Pasarattu can be served with chutney or kulambu of your choice. While serving sprinkle with finely chopped onions and freshly crushed pepper on the top of the dosa.


Ingredients for Pesarattu Dosa:


  • Green moong dal – 2 cups
  • Onion – 1 chopped
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
  • Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
  • Red chilly – 1 or 2
  • Salt to taste


For Garnish:


  • Onion – finely chopped
  • Pepper – freshly crushed  


Method:


  • Rinse and soak the moong dal overnight in water.
  • Drain the water and grind it along with onion, ginger, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, red chilly and salt in a grinder or mixer.

  • Grind it to a smooth paste by adding water. Adjust water inorder to get a dosa batter consistency.
  • In a dosa tawa or a flat pan drizzle some oil and pour the batter in round shape and drizzle some oil on the sides and centre, allow it to cook. Flip to other side and allow to cook until crisp and brown. 
  • Garnish with chopped onions and freshly crushed pepper. Serve with coconut chutney or kulambu of your choice.

Note:

  • For grinding you can use green chilly instead of red chilly.
