Cooking Terms (from Alphabet F - K)

Here I am including cooking Terms starting from the letter F to K

Frying: In which food is cooked in hot oil or fat.

Heat and food size(portion) is the main difference between pan frying and sauteing
Pan Frying: Cooking portion sized food with moderately-high heat. Example: Cooking long fish piece.

Sauteing: Cooking small sized food with high heat with frequently tossing the pan. Example: Sauteing the onion.

Stir Frying: Food is cooked in high heat with more oil because food is cooked only in oil. The food is moved around to ensure even cooking. Example: Spinach (keerai) stir fry. The main difference between stir fry and sauteing is food browning is allowed in sauteing.

Shallow Frying: The oil covers half of the food and is cooked. Example: cutlet recipe.

Deep Frying: The food is completely submerged in the oil and cooked. Example : Bajii recipe.

I will try to post some photos in the coming days.
