Lemon Sevai Recipe - Lemon Idiyappam Recipe

Lemon sevai a very easy and tasty recipe. We always have lemon sevai  accompanied with sweet sevai. Here I give you step by step procedure along with picture for preparing this recipe.

Different version of sevai can also be prepared like coconut sevai, vegetable sevai etc.

Ingredients for Lemon Sevai:

  • Sevai or Idiyappam – 1 cup
  • Lemon – ½ or less
  • Peas - 4 to 5 tbsp cooked
  • Coriander leaves finely chopped for garnishing

To Temper:

  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Split Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Channa dal / Kadala Paruppu – 1 tsp
  • Cashew nuts – 5 broken  or Roasted peanuts – 2 tbsp
  • Green Chilies – 2
  • Turmeric powder - a generous pinch
  • Curry leaves few

Method:

  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and allow to crackel. Add urad dal, channa dal, cashew nuts allow it to slightly brown then add green chilli and curry leaves.
  • Add boiled peas, Turmeric powder and fry for a minute then switch of the flame. Add sevai or idiyappam  (loosen the strings(sevai/idiyappam) using hand, if you cant able to loosen you can sprinkle some oil and loosen the strings before adding)  and add lemon juice and mix well.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

Notes:

  • Purely its your preference of adding peas. It tastes good if you not adding peas also.
  • Cashew nuts gives good flavor and taste. So I prefer to add cashew nuts most of the time comparing to peanuts.
